Dr. Melkonian is a board certified family physician. He completed his residency training at Adventist Health Glendale, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. After residency, he continued his post-graduate training in an Internal Medicine/Geriatrics Medicine fellowship at Los Angeles County – University of Southern California (LAC+USC).
Dr. Melkonian joined the AHGL FMRP faculty in July 2020. He is currently practicing the full spectrum of family medicine, focusing primarily on quality of life and functional ability of the elderly population. He has been leading the Inpatient Palliative Care Program at AHGL hospital since 2001. He is also committed to leading the Advanced Illness Management/palliative care team at Vituity Family Medicine Center to provide the right tools and support to our patients and families, by addressing their physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
Besides English, he is fluent in Armenian and Arabic. Dr. Melkonian enjoys participating in medical mission trips with Adventist Health. Outside of work, Dr. Melkonian enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching movies, exploring new restaurants and outdoor activities in Southern California.
