Sports and Camp Physicals
We are proud to offer sports and camp physicals on a walk-in basis.
Note that sports and camp physicals are slightly different in purpose but identical in practice. (For more information on immigration physicals, go here. For more information on routine wellness checks/annual physicals), go here. Both immigration physicals and wellness checks are by appointment only.)
Reserve your spot in line and skip the waiting room.
It’s easy and saves you time.
A sports physical — also called a school physical or a pre-participation physical exam (PPE) — helps determine whether it is safe for your child to participate in a specific sport or activity.
Sports physicals are usually required to start a new sport or season and/or engage in extracurricular activities at school, but even if a physical isn’t required, we recommend getting one before your child starts playing any new competitive sport. A camp physical is often required to attend camp, and ensures that your child can safely participate in the planned camp activities.
A sports/camp physical is comprised of a medical history review and physical exam.
The medical history review includes questions about prior illnesses and injuries, such as asthma, allergies, or broken bones. Make sure to tell the care provider about any medical problems that run in the family and/or medications your child takes regularly. It’s also important to tell the care provider whether your child has ever passed out, gotten dizzy, or felt chest pain while running or playing.
You may have your own questions about the planned sport or activity. Bring these questions in with you, and we’ll go over safety precautions and possible problems to keep an eye out for.
During the physical exam portion, we will check the following:
- Height
- Weight
- Eyesight
- Blood pressure
- Ears, nose, and throat
- Heart and lungs
- Abdomen
- Strength and flexibility
And that’s it! We are proud to offer comprehensive, efficient, no-appointment-necessary sports and camp physicals so you can get in and out — with proper proof of your child’s excellent health — quickly and easily.
