If your child has a non-life-threatening ear, nose, or eye infection, turn to the professionals at Vituity Family Medicine Center. Based in Glendale, California, we proudly offer a wide range of pediatric care services.
Ear Infection Treatment
Ear infections (sometimes referred to as “earaches”) most commonly affect the middle ear, causing pain, trouble hearing, and fluid drainage. Children, in particular, may also develop a fever or headache, lose their appetite, and have difficulty balancing. If we diagnose your child with an ear infection, we’ll recommend the appropriate course of treatment, which often includes pain medication or antibiotics.
Nose Infection Treatment
Is your child complaining about nasal congestion, possibly accompanied by facial pain or pressure? When they blow their nose, does thick yellow or green mucus come out? Do they have a fever or cough, or does their breath smell worse than normal? Chances are good that their sinus tissues may be inflamed, causing what’s known as “sinusitis” or “a sinus infection.” Our team regularly treats sinus infections and other types of nose infections, and we can prescribe the treatment that’s best suited to your child’s needs.
Eye Infection Treatment
The most common type of eye infection is conjunctivitis (also known as “pink eye”), which occurs when the transparent membrane lining the eyelid and eyeball (the conjunctiva) becomes inflamed. Pink eye symptoms often include redness, itchiness, a gritty sensation, light sensitivity, tearing, and discharge that may form a crust overnight. Depending on your child’s specific condition, we may recommend using eye drops or applying a warm or cool compress.
